Shih TzuLegend traces the origin of the Shis Tzu to Tibet where they were the "sacred dog of temples". Given as gifts to the Emperors of China during the Manchu Dynasty (17th century) they became known as "little temple dogs". In the early 1930's a puppy was presented to Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace. The Shih Tzu have been described as friendly, non-aggressive, good with children and other dogs. They are not demanding but will patiently wait for attention. Willing to entertain any stranger with their affection and fun loving play. Not a one-person dog. The Shih Tzu are typically 9-16 pounds, sturdy and solid. They range in color from black, black and white, gray and white, gold and white, or pure gold. A white blaze on the forehead and white tip to the tail. are highly valued. |
